SPLC Action Fund endorses Vice President Kamala Harris for president

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Today, the SPLC Action Fund supports Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States after President Biden’s announcement that he will not seek reelection.

“From his first day in office, President Joe Biden made advancing racial justice and equity a priority of his administration. We’re deeply grateful to the president for tackling long-standing inequities and working across communities and industries to address some of the toughest challenges facing us today — from the racial wealth gap to rising hate and extremism to the erosion of democracy,” said Margaret Huang, president and CEO of the SPLC Action Fund. “As President Biden passes the torch to a new nominee, we thank him for reminding us of what it means to serve with strength, integrity and vision.

“With a career marked by a steadfast commitment to social and economic justice, equity and progress for all, Vice President Kamala Harris brings a unique blend of experience, skill, passion and vision to the table,” Huang added. “Her dedication to human rights and democracy will ensure that the federal government works to guarantee that every American’s voice is heard and valued in the Deep South and beyond.

“Vice President Harris is an extraordinary champion and advocate for a multiracial, inclusive democracy, from building coalitions for voting rights protections and championing criminal legal reform to promoting racial equity in health care and economic policies,” Huang continued. “She will undoubtedly be a president who strengthens our democracy for all, including future generations, against a dangerous and extremist Trump-Vance ticket.

“As we look to the future of our nation, the SPLC Action Fund is elated to endorse a candidate as resilient, intelligent and compassionate as Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States of America,” Huang concluded.
