SPLC Action Fund Congratulates U.S. Representative-Elect Cleo Fields of Louisiana
NEW ORLEANS — Today, the SPLC Action Fund celebrates the election of Cleo Fields in Louisiana’s sixth district (LA-06). Fields will represent the state’s new majority-Black district in the United States House of Representatives.
“The election of Cleo Fields is a victory for Black voters in District 6,” said Brandon Jones, director of political campaigns, SPLC Action Fund. “Fields has been a champion for ending mass incarceration and restoring voting rights, and we’re excited to see him take this advocacy to the nation’s capital.”
The Action Fund endorsed Fields during the 2024 election cycle for his more than three decades of serving the community. Fields has advocated for unions, expanding Medicaid and increasing the minimum wage while serving in the Louisiana legislature. He is also recognized for his commitment to attracting new economic development across the state and ensuring all children in Louisiana have access to quality education.
