SPLC Action Fund Endorses Shana White for Gwinnett County School Board
ATLANTA — Today, the SPLC Action Fund endorsed Shana White for school board in Gwinnett County, District 3. White, a third generation teacher, is a passionate educator with an unwavering commitment to creating learning environments where all students can thrive.
“School boards make critical decisions that affect the future of our public schools — from choosing curriculum to adopting district-wide policies,” said Madison Hollon, program manager of political campaigns for the SPLC Action Fund. “We are proud to endorse Shana White, who is an advocate for inclusive education and policies that would help to eliminate the school-to-prison pipeline. She understands that our schools should be a place where all students feel safe, respected and equipped with the information they need to succeed.”
The SPLC Action Fund is focused on lifting up communities of color, particularly in the Deep South, who face systemic oppression, poverty and structural racism. To overcome these injustices, the organization is committed to reimagining the political, economic and social systems that sustain them to create a world where all people can thrive.
In pursuit of this bold agenda, the SPLC Action Fund supports candidates who share its commitment to addressing the deep inequities that plague our nation.
Gwinnett County school board runoff elections will be held on June 18.
