Ashley K. Shelton
Ashley K. Shelton is the founder, president and CEO of the Power Coalition, a statewide nonprofit, tax-exempt organization in Louisiana. The Power Coalition uses a broad-based strategy that combines community organizing, issue advocacy and civic action while increasing the capacity of community organizations throughout the state to build and sustain power. Shelton has led strategies to move more than 1 million voters throughout Louisiana, delivering significant electoral impact in the state’s major metropolitan areas, including New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. Since its inception, the Power Coalition has focused on moving infrequent voters of color, amplifying their voice and building people power. The organization’s integrated voter engagement approach has changed policy at the municipal, state and federal levels.
